چکیده
Chandra, R. K. (1973). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 48, 864. Reduced bactericidal capacity of polymorphs in iron deficiency. Intracellular bacterial killing by polymorphonuclear leucocytes and reduction of nitro-blue tetrazolium were defective in 12 children with iron deficiency anaemia. Opsonic activity of plasma and phagocytosis were normal. The abnormalities were corrected quickly by parenteral administration of iron.

in undernutrition. Fifteen undernourished infants and children were studied for opsonic activity of plasma, and for phagocytosis and intracellular bactericidal capacity of polymorphonuclear leucocytes. The opsonic activity was slightly increased and there was a significant decrease in bacterial killing by polymorphs of malnourished individuals compared with healthy controls. Phagocytosis was co...

Background: Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is one of the most common nutritional disorder, and since the iron content of the diet is relatively stable and it is difficult to increase dietary iron intake, supplements are used for treatment. Studies have reported the concomitant effect of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) in increase of iron content and reduction sensitivity to oxidants. The aim o...

Introduction: Deficiencies in micronutrients are a major health issue in all ages , especially children, in developing countries. Severe or long-term iron deficiency will lead to iron deficiency anemia and thus affect children’s growth and development. This review article tried to determine the neurodevelopmental effects of deficiency in this micronutrient among children. Methods: A compr...
